PHYSICIANS, WHY CHOOSE OLEAN MEDICAL GROUP?
A Work / Life Balance:
Whatever your off-hours entail, we’re about an hour or less away from it. Head northwest for a half hour and you’ll be skiing on the wonderful slopes of Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, New York. Go west and you can enjoy all that the Chautauqua Institution has to offer. Due east and you will come upon the first of the Finger Lakes, Keuka, and its fine wineries, shopping, and water sports. Straight north will take you to the Buffalo area for off Broadway theater, pro sports, large mall shopping, and an international airport. Or simply stay in the greater Olean area and enjoy all that it has to offer - hiking, biking, kayaking, boating, skiing, running, and numerous other outdoor activities. No one has more trails and recreation areas than we do right in western New York. Looking for more big-city fun, Cleveland is just 3 hours to our west. Pittsburgh is 3 ½ hours to the south and Toronto is 3 ½ hours to the north.
Partnership:
All eligible physicians are offered partnership the first January after one full year. To be eligible, you must be a physician and a United States citizen or a permanent resident. All partners are equal -there is no seniority and partnership gives you an equal share of the business. There is a modest buy-in, paid over a period of years.
A One Stop Shop:
Inside our clinics, we provide courteous and caring treatment mingled with the highest quality of care available - all at a reasonable cost. That’s why so many families in the community come to Olean Medical Group to keep them feeling good. At present, in addition to primary care, we offer specialists in Pulmonology, Cardiology, Nutrition, Obstetrics, and Gynecology, Allergy, Pediatrics, Rheumatology, Neurology, Podiatry and Hematology. We are actively searching for Endocrinology. And don’t forget, at our main office in Olean, we have an accredited Lab and an accredited Radiology Department - pretty much a one stop shop.
Weather:
First, let's dispel the rumors about the winters here. Yes, it is cold in January and February but the sun shines and we barely get half of the snowfall that Buffalo and the rest of our state gets. However, we have the distinct fortune of being just 30 minutes from one of the best ski/golf resorts in the Northeast – Holiday Valley – and happily, they do get snow. Snowboarding, downhill skiing, and cross-country skiing abound from late December through mid-March most years.
Education – A Top Priority:
New community members quickly discover education is very important in our area with three public school districts. From doctorates at St. Bonaventure University, to associates degrees at Jamestown Community College, to Montessori and International Baccalaureate programs in a private school, our area offers some very fine education.
Added perks from the University and the Community College are the many speakers series they offer, numerous theater productions, and Division 1 sports at St. Bonaventure. We’re all Bonnie Basketball fans!
The public schools offer trade courses and also a variety of classes in partnership with the University and the Community College. Most of our area graduating high school seniors go on to higher learning with several college credits to get them started. If you have questions about schools, enrollment, volunteer opportunities or specific classes, just ask and we'll direct you to the right people.
To Trail or Not To Trail:
We are so fortunate because not only do we have bike lanes within our communities but we have a 5 ½ mile paved trail that weaves through Allegany, St. Bonaventure, and Olean. The good news is, it will be expanding in the near future too. You’ll see joggers, walkers, and cyclists sharing the trail most every day.
Whatever kind of home you are looking for, there's bound to be a shape, style and price to fit your needs. We can put you in touch with one of the area realtors who will give you a tour of the neighborhoods, tell you about the schools, show you all of your options and help make the move easy.
A Family Affair:
There is a lot for a family of any size to do right here within our city but even more within a 30 mile radius. Get out and see nature in action at Rock City Park or Allegany State Park, take in a show at the Regina Quick Arts Center, ice skate at our indoor rec center, attend one of the many festivals, or simply go shopping for antiques. When you first move here, your new peers will likely show you around or give you some direction on where to go and what to see. A year or so down the road, it'll be your turn to share what you know. By then, you'll be a well-rooted local.
OUR STORIES:
"Joining Olean Medical Group 21 years ago was one of the best decisions I ever made when it comes to my practice. Having been raised in Buffalo, It brought me back to the area near my family and has given me the ability to work alongside caring professionals. I can work a full week and still enjoy my time with my family. There are more dramatic changes in healthcare, I am confident OMG and our growing group of physicians will continue to provide the best care in western New York for years to come."
"Having grown up in this area as a patient of Olean Medical Group, I knew I would be joining a practice that offers exceptional patient care. As a physician, the group has exceeded ALL of my expectations. It is rare to find an environment of such collegiality. I feel extremely well supported."
"I am very excited to be working at Olean Medical Group. The physicians are well-supported, very happy and provide high quality care which is respected by the local community. My family and I enjoy the Olean area with its diverse lifestyle opportunities."
"It has been so exciting to return to Olean and provide care in my hometown as a part of Olean Medical Group. The shared vision among primary and specialty care providers within OMG encourages mutual respect and a collaborative approach to patient care. Administrative and technical support further allow physicians to provide a sophisticated level of care in a neighborhood clinic environment."
"The reason I joined Olean Medical Group was that during my interview I felt like it was a good fit with the other providers and it was the type of practice I was looking to be a part of. I really enjoy the people I work with and the other providers have been really helpful and a great team to be a part of. It is also nice that there are monthly provider social events like rock climbing, etc. which allows providers to meet other providers that you don't directly work with all the time. I also appreciate that Olean Medical Group includes APCs in meetings like the quarterly meetings and town hall meetings that allow us to hear about what is going on with the company. Olean has been great in that it is not a huge city but has everything you need. It is easy access to the coast and the mountains for those who like outdoor activities. It has a variety of different restaurants around town and different entertainment options that come through at the Regina Quick Arts Center at St. Bonaventure University, along with the sporting events there too."
"It’s hard work to be a couch potato in Olean. I mountain bike, hike, kayak and ski. There’s just so much to do here and it’s just right there for you. Everything’s within ten minutes.
